Experimenting with different mediums such as linking the music that resonated most while I crafted the piece seemed like the only logical way to display my work. Music and singing the lyrics is integral to my process. It adds a visceral reaction capturing what was being conveyed through specific color combinations and mad imagery. Observing the pieces from different angles will reveal scenes within scenes interacting seamlessly. Looking at things with a different perspective is part of the process.

Don’t Worry.

There is no RIGHT or WRONG way to view my artwork . It is interpretive and projective.

What YOU see may be different from what someone else sees. It is designed to allow the mind and eyes to wander reflecting the subconscious through the interpretation of seemingly ambiguous visual stimuli. If you think you see something then you probably do.

Influences

  • Hermann Rorschach, the Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst is a huge influence of my work. Rorschach created an assessment of ten standardized inkblots meant to reveal unconscious personality traits, conflicts, and emotional functioning. His work in Psychodiagnostik was introduced in 1921 and he died one year after his work was published in 1922 at the age of 37 from appendicitis complications .

  • I have always loved Van Gogh’s art and it inspires much of my art. A popular, albeit unproven theory is that Van Gogh favored bold blues, greens, and vibrant yellows because he may have had protanopia, causing him difficulty distinguishing between reds and greens.

True or not, it got me curious about those dealing with color deficiencies, inspiring a special category of my site specifically targeted for those folks.

  • I enjoy making artwork geared towards those individuals who happen to be color blind. Roughly 300-350 million people worldwide have some form of color blind with red-green deficiency making up about 99% of the cases affecting 1 in 12 men and 1 in 200 women (2015).

When I started working with the stone Pietersite for many of my oil pencil pictures I realized how the colors of blue, white, and yellow stood out while looking through a colorblind filter lens. The picture was almost the same for no filter, deuteranopia (green-weak) and protanopia (red-weak). Tritanopia (blue-yellow deficiency) looked the most different but still flowed well. Every project takes this into consideration with colors specifically chosen allowing the picture to be aesthetically accessible.

  • Despite the inherent awkwardness, engaging with difficult subjects can promote societal change, build resilience and foster personal growth while strengthening relationships. Avoiding these conversations can lead to missed opportunities for understanding, progress forward and ultimately healing.

  • How do good intentioned and well educated people find themselves in cults?

  • Why don’t those who are unhappy simply leave once they realize they have been striped of everything they once held dear?

  • I found the best way to view this site is to cast on a TV from the desktop view. Since this is not always possible I have organized the mobile view to flow and be as comprehensive as possible.

  • HELLO my fellow ADHD friends! I’m talking to you.

This site is designed for those of you who like SIDE QUESTING.

Underlined links are embedded throughout the site, including this HOME page, taking you on a variety of adventures to other places such as the Alaska, Barbados, Scotland to name a few. Some links are music that has resonated the most for me while designing my site and some are articles associated with my content.

  • The music videos attached are meant to be played while looking at the complex image and interacting with the links embedded, if you so choose.

The imagery of the videos themselves and the feeling associated with the songs will give a more complete picture of what is being expressed through my work.
